TOM FEATHERSTONE ALRIGHT (AT HOME)

The hushed tones of Sheffield-based singer-songwriter Tom Featherstone’s ‘Alright (At Home)’ is the zeitgeist of lockdown living. Produced, remotely of course, alongside electronic alt-pop artist Minimal Animal, this track takes the intimacy of Featherstone’s iPhone recorded vocals and sets that into a truly captivating space that acts as a little oasis for the listener to find rest. With all the new stressors that this post-covid world has put upon us, it’s soothing music like ‘Alright (At Home)’ that we’re turning to more than ever. For this reason, it’s also come as quite a surprise that the original single was first released back in November last year, but as Featherstone explains “the chorus and sentiment of the track just came back to me in lockdown, it was important to sing over myself in a way to combat anxiety.” As he continues, “I called Nick (Minimal Animal) with the idea of this new version exposing the vulnerability and intimacy of the lyrics; he was down and made it this beautiful track that we get to release together.” More than a beautiful new song, the proceeds from ‘Alright (At Home)’ will help to raise money for Sheffield-based community and cultural centre, Foodhall, so be sure to give this one lots of love where you can. - Hannah Thacker
